Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) has announced yet another hike in gold prices within 24 hours of slashing them.

The price of 22-carat gold has been increased by Tk 630 per bhori (11.664g). This means each bhori will now cost Tk 119,428.

BAJUS announced the new prices on Sunday (April 21). It argued that a rise in pure gold prices on the local market forced it to revise the prices.

The new prices are effective as of 3pm today, BAJUS said.

Each bhori of 21-carat gold will cost Tk 114,004, while 18-carat gold’s price has gone up to Tk 97,709.

The price of each bhori traditional gold has been set at Tk 78,662.

Earlier on April 20, gold prices were reduced by Tk 840 on the local market.

On April 18, BAJUS raised the prices on the local market, pushing them up to their highest level in Bangladesh’s history.

This year, BAJUS raised the prices 10 times. It ‘adjusted’ the prices 29 times last year.
