Farzana Rupa, Shakil Ahmed detained at Dhaka airport

Former chief news editor of the private channel Ekattor TV Shakil Ahmed and his wife, former chief reporter and anchor Farzana Rupa, have been detained at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport along with their daughter.

They were scheduled to depart from Dhaka airport at 6:20am on Wednesday via Turkish Airlines to Paris, France, via Istanbul. 

However, due to a case filed with Shahbagh police station, the Special Branch of police did not grant them departure clearance.

Later, a team from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch took them to the DB office for questioning.
