Bus catches fire on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway

It is believed that the engine of the bus overheated in the heat
A bus of Tisha Paribahan suddenly caught fire on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Narayanganj Wednesday afternoon.
However, no one was injured in this incident.
The incident took place on the Chittagong-bound lane of the Meghnaghat toll plaza area of the highway around 12:30pm.
According to police and local sources, the Tisha Paribahan bus was coming from Comilla towards the Shimrail intersection area with passengers. At this time, when reaching the Meghnaghat toll plaza area, suddenly smoke started coming out from the bus and the panicked passengers got off the bus.
On receiving the information, the fire service, toll plaza people, bus driver-assistant and locals extinguished the fire.
Confirming the matter, Kanchpur Highway police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rezaul Haque said: "The bus caught fire while it was moving. It was later brought under control. No one was injured in this incident.”
When asked about the cause of the fire, Kanchpur Highway police station Traffic Inspector Abu Naim said: "It is believed that the engine of the bus overheated in the heat.”
