Following a violent clash between Chhatra League activists and anti-quota protesters, police have been deployed at Dhaka University. This information was confirmed by DMP's Joint Commissioner of Police (Operations) Biplap Kumar Sarkar at 6:41 PM on Monday.

The unrest began after 3:00 PM when both protesting students and Chhatra League activists took a stand at Dhaka University. The situation quickly escalated, with the two groups chasing each other and engaging in violent clashes across the campus.

Eyewitnesses reported that at around 3:00 PM, BCL leaders and activists clashed with the protesting students, throwing bricks and wielding sticks. The campus became a battleground, with chaos spreading as more leaders and activists from Dhaka Metropolitan North and South Chhatra League, as well as units from Dhaka College, joined the fray.

As the conflict intensified, general students were dispersed, and Chhatra League leaders and activists took up positions in front of the Raju sculpture. Despite the police presence, BCL activists were seen rehearsing with sticks and rods on the campus.

Earlier in the day, around 3:00 PM, students from Dhaka University, Bangladesh University of Engineering, Jagannath University, Dhaka College, and Eden College had gathered for the second day of protests. They were demanding the withdrawal of the Prime Minister's statement on the 'Muktijoddha Quota' in government jobs. The protest began at the foot of the Raju sculpture, with students marching through key areas of the campus before returning to the sculpture for a rally.

The protest march included slogans such as "Quota na Medha, Medha Medha," "Ke Razakar Ke Razakar, Tui Razakar Tui Razakar," "The spirit of the liberation war, the state is not of anyone's father," "I wanted rights, I became a Razakar," "In my independent Bengal, one Katha Chali Na," "Tumi Ke Ami Ke, Bengali Bengali," "Bought in the blood of lakhs of martyrs, the country is nobody's father," "action to action, direct action," and "movement with attacks/cases, can't be stopped."

The deployment of police aims to control the volatile situation and prevent further violence as tensions remain high on the campus.
