Quader: PM Hasina not intimidated by any threats

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her younger sister, Sheikh Rehana, cannot be frightened by any threats. 

“Sheikh Hasina fears only Allah. People are our strength,” Quader, the road transport and bridges minister, said while addressing the Awami League's election rally at Bangabandhu Udyan in Barisal on Friday.

Quader said Sheikh Hasina has promised in the party’s election manifesto to rectify her government’s previous mistakes. “No other politician in Bangladesh has been able to show such courage. Leaders in power do not usually accept their mistakes.”

The minister said the BNP has been shown a “red card” and has exited the political landscape, calling the party’s non-cooperation movement futile. 

He said the Awami League will be re-elected in the January 7 election under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina. 

“Barisal was once the stronghold of Bangabandhu's movement. Present-day Barisal is now Sheikh Hasina's stronghold,” he added.
