In a recent press statement issued on Monday (April 1), the General Secretary of Awami League, Obaidul Quader, reiterated the stance of Chhatra League, asserting that the student organization adheres strictly to its constitution and principles, devoid of any belief in occupation.

Signed by Awami League office secretary Biplab Barua and distributed to the media, Quader emphasized the pivotal role of Chhatra League in Bangladesh's liberation war, highlighting the sacrifices made by its members. He noted that 17 thousand leaders and activists of Chhatra League laid down their lives during the struggle for independence, underscoring the organization's unwavering dedication to upholding the spirit of the liberation war.

Quader traced the roots of educational institution occupation to Ziaur Rahman's era, attributing its inception to the former dictator's exploitation of students for consolidating his power. He accused Ziaur Rahman of establishing a political environment akin to that of Pakistan, fostering communal politics and disrupting the democratic ethos within educational institutions.

Further condemning the distortion of history by BNP leaders and their allies, Quader warned against the repercussions of such actions, asserting that those who oppose the historical truth are bound to face defeat. He reaffirmed the inseparable bond between Bangladesh, Awami League, and the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, denouncing any attempt to malign their legacy.

In conclusion, Quader underscored Chhatra League's steadfast commitment to its founding principles and its ongoing struggle against forces seeking to undermine the nation's history and ideals.
