PM Sheikh Hasina Emphasizes Honor for Freedom Fighters at Fellowship Award Ceremony

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina highlighted the importance of honoring the brave freedom fighters of Bangladesh during the awarding ceremony for the Prime Minister's Fellowship 2024-25 at the Prime Minister's Office.
In her speech, Sheikh Hasina emphasized that freedom fighters, who risked their lives and answered the call of the Father of the Nation to ensure victory in the Liberation War, deserve the highest respect. She stated, "The brave freedom fighters gave up everything and fought with courage, leaving behind their families and personal lives to secure our victory. They should always be given the highest honor."
The Prime Minister expressed her commitment to nurturing the country's talented youth, stating, "Our sons and daughters are the most talented. It is our duty to create opportunities for them, which is why I initiated the fellowship." She outlined her vision for the future, saying that by 2041, Bangladesh aims to build a "smart Bangladesh" with a smart workforce that keeps pace with global advancements.
Sheikh Hasina also addressed the issue of respect for freedom fighters, acknowledging that they have been neglected in the past. She affirmed her government’s efforts to support and honor them, regardless of their political affiliations. "Since I came to power, I have provided all kinds of support to freedom fighters. They are proud to be called freedom fighters, and despite any differences, they should receive respect from all," she added.
The ceremony was also attended by Kamal Abdul Nasser Chowdhury, Adviser on Education and Culture to the Prime Minister, and Chief Secretary Tofazzal Hossain Mia.
The Prime Minister’s remarks underscored her administration’s ongoing efforts to honor the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and to foster future generations through initiatives like the Prime Minister’s Fellowship.
