'Beginning from the residential halls, resuming the academic activities is our first goal'
Dhaka University's Vice-Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed Khan expressed hope that the university's full-scale activities will resume within a week.
He made the remark while talking to reporters at his office this noon.
In reply to a journalist's query, Prof Niaz said, "Currently, we are not waiting for a 100 percent perfect situation. We will begin [activities] as much as we can. Such a situation has never come."
About the priority of his activities, he said, "My team hopes to start full-scale activities within a week. After taking office, we have been constantly talking to the stakeholders. We are trying to start the DU's operations on the basis of understanding with all. So, beginning from the residential halls, resuming the academic activities is our first goal."
The VC added, "There is a standstill situation in many parts of the university. I'm trying to talk to all the quarters. It is a universal university. I think it very sincerely. My team has not taken the full responsibility yet. I am waiting for their full cooperation."
"The students have faced hurdles to an education-friendly environment. They have some reasonable suggestions. Some of these are connected to the student-teacher relationship. Some others are connected to infrastructural limitations. We will prioritise the issues that everyone is talking about in general," he also said.
