Home Minister Ensures Strict Control Over Extortion on Roads and Highways During Eid
In an effort to ensure public safety and maintain order during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr festivities, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan has announced stringent measures to curb extortion activities on roads and highways.
Speaking to journalists after a meeting at the Secretariat, Minister Khan emphasized the need to address concerns regarding extortion, traffic congestion, and overall law enforcement during the Eid period. He outlined plans for law enforcement agencies to establish temporary monitoring camps at key transportation hubs such as railway stations, bus terminals, and launch points. Additionally, patrols will be deployed along highways, particularly in areas prone to traffic jams, with the possibility of utilizing drones for surveillance if necessary.
Minister Khan reiterated the government's commitment to maintaining law and order nationwide during Eid-ul-Fitr. Police patrols will be intensified in major cities, ports, and diplomatic zones, while checkpoints will be established at key road intersections. Moreover, strict enforcement measures will target illicit activities at bus terminals and on waterways.
Specifically addressing concerns about extortion, Minister Khan assured that measures would be implemented to strictly control such activities on roads and highways. Furthermore, preparations for emergency response, including rescue operations on roads, highways, and waterways, will be bolstered with the readiness of fire service, civil defense teams, and the Coast Guard.
The Home Minister's announcement underscores the government's proactive approach to ensuring a safe and secure environment for citizens during the festive period, with a focus on combating extortion and enhancing emergency preparedness.
