Khaleda suffers from various ailments
BNP chief Khaleda Zia, who has been undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka for over five months, is ready to return to her home in Gulshan on Thursday.
The BNP chairperson would leave the hospital at 4pm, Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, Khaleda’s personal physician and BNP vice chairman, confirmed.
Khaleda was admitted to Evercare Hospital when she fell sick on August 9. The BNP chief has been undergoing treatment there since then for various health complications.
The 78-year-old former prime minister has long been suffering from various ailments, including liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes, and kidney, lung, heart and eye issues.
Khaleda’s doctors have been recommending she be sent abroad for treatment since she was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis in November 2021.
The BNP chief’s family has also sought permission from the government on different occasions, but the government maintains that the law does not allow her to do so as she was released from prison on condition that she stay in her Gulshan home and not leave the country.
