Many trapped under train
At least 15 people were killed, and many others were injured when a passenger train collided with a goods train from behind in Bhairab upazila, Kishoreganj, on Monday afternoon.
Rasel, a firefighter at Bhairab Bazar Fire Station, confirmed the matter.
Two rear coaches of the Egarosindhur Godhuli train were damaged. Witnesses reported that many people were trapped under the train, with several of the injured individuals lying beneath the damaged coaches.
Bhairab Station Master Yusuf said: “The incident took place around 3.30pm. The death toll is expected to rise further. Rail connectivity from Dhaka to Chittagong, Sylhet and Kishoreganj is suspended.”
At the time of filing this report, 15 deaths have been reported.
Police and fire service personnel are working at the spot to rescue the victims.
