The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of the police has arrested two more persons, including the supposed mastermind, in connection with the derailment of the Dhaka-bound Mohonganj Express in Gazipur on the Dhaka-Mymensingh railway line on December 13.
The police arrested the two in a raid on Sunday, recovering cutters and other items from their possession. However, law enforcement did not disclose their identities.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) KN Roy Niyati said further information will be provided in a press briefing at the DMP media centre on Monday.
The police officer said miscreants cut off about 20 feet of tracks for sabotage. The Mohonganj Express derailed while crossing the area, causing six coaches along with the engine of the train to fall from the railway line onto the low ground.
A chicken trader, Aslam Mia, 35, died, while 10 people, including the train driver and his assistant, sustained injuries.
The police have previously made several other arrests over the incident.
