Quader warns of action against violence in the name of movement

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has warned that if anyone tries to create a violent situation in the name of the political movement, law enforcers will suppress it strictly for the sake of people’s lives and property.

He also said that Awami League's peace and democracy rally will continue.

Obaidul Quader said these things at the winter clothes distribution program at the premises of the historical Bangabandhu Bhaban in Dhanmondi-32 of the capital on Friday.

Addressing the BNP, Obaidul Quader said: “Carry on your movement. But violence in the name of movement, disruption of people's livelihood, arson in the name of hartal blockade, will be suppressed with a strong hand.”

“There is no exemption in these matters. A lot of suffering has happened in this country. In the name of the movement, people suffered a lot. And if anyone does these misdeeds, they will be punished. We will suppress it strictly, this is our decision. As much as they will carry out protest and movement, our peace and democracy rally will continue.”

Quader commented that October 28 would come again after five years and asked BNP to carry out their movement at that time. “Try to carry out the movement centring with the election. For now, not only people but also BNP’s leaders and activists will not respond to thier call for joining a movment.”

“BNP is now a dummy party in Bangladesh. No more dummy parties are needed in the country. They have become dummies. Their grief turned to stone. The leaders and activists could not sleep. All their hope is lost. Will they carry out movement? They will hold violent movements all over Bangladesh, there will be a sea of crowd, and even the horse will laugh hearing this.”

“They have fooled themselves. BNP has no hope at the moment. There is no ban, there is no visa policy, days pass by hoping for visa bans, nights pass, this is BNP.”

He said that BNP's mistake of not joining elections will be realized soon. Now they have a black flag march, it is a mourning program. The black flag is a sign of mourning, and then they are telling the nation that they have accepted defeat. That’s why they have planned a mourning black flag procession.

Obaidul Quader claimed that the BNP leaders and activists have been arrested in the case filed on specific charges, and now they should deal with it legally. Those who are not involved in the crime will be released by the legal process.
