‘We will implement the pledges given in our manifesto’
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said that BNP-Jamaat has nothing to do except wait for the next five years as they boycotted the election repeatedly.
“Now all the allegations made by BNP-Jammat are baseless and out of reality,” said the Awami League leader.
He made the comments at a post-polls press conference at the Dhaka district Awami League office at Tejgaon in the capital on Monday.
People have given a mandate against the defeated power of 1971 and the murderers of 1975 in this election. People have given verdicts against arsonists, said Quader.
He advised the BNP to accept the truth.
“Follow the principles of democracy or you will be thrown into the dustbin of history. People have shown that there is no chance of evil politics in this country.”
He said that Awami League President Sheikh Hasina respects the verdict of the people.
Obaidul Quader said: " Sheikh Hasina is going to become the prime minister for the fourth time in a row and the fifth time in total. Ambassadors from India, Russia, China, Bhutan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Pakistan and Brazil met and congratulated her.”
He said that the Awami League will run the country by respecting the people's mandate.
"We will implement the pledges given in our manifesto,” Quader added.
Future Bangladesh will be smart and prosperous. This election will be a milestone in the country's democratic journey, he said.
The Awami League secured an absolute majority in parliament after winning 223 of 299 seats in the national parliamentary polls held on Sunday.
