Quader: BNP politicizing Khaleda Zia’s health

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said the BNP is doing politics over Khaleda Zia’s illness.

“BNP leaders are spreading falsehood over the health of Begum Khaleda Zia. They are creating confusion among people by spreading propaganda about her condition,” Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said in a statement on Sunday.

Quader said the people have rejected all of the BNP’s so-called political activities in the name of movements. The BNP has turned into a failed political organization, he said.

Noting that Khaleda Zia is a convicted person in a graft case, Quader said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has shown her unprecedented generosity by giving her permission to stay at home and receive treatment at a private hospital.

Khaleda Zia is availing opportunities to get the best treatment under specialized local and foreign doctors, he said.

BNP leaders are making illegal demands for the release of Khaleda Zia without maintaining judicial procedure, he said.

The politician said BNP leaders are instigating the people over Begum Zia’s health issue.

He added that the BNP is trying to destroy political stability as the party has no faith in the constitution, rule of law and democracy.

Quader said the Awami League is pledge-bound to uphold the country’s constitution and rule of law. A democratic government cannot accept any illogical demand, he said.

Awami League leaders and activists will resist all criminal activities and conspiracy of the BNP, he asserted.
