Traffic slows to a crawl as truck overturns on Dhaka-Tangail highway

A goods-laden truck overturned on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway causing slow traffic in a 5km stretch.
The incident took place in the Pungli area of Kalihati upazila on Friday morning.
Vehicular movement from Elenga to the Gharinda underpass has slowed, causing difficulties for Eid-ul-Azha holidaymakers.
Mir Sajedur Rahman, the officer-in-charge of the Elenga Highway police outpost, reported that the truck has been removed and traffic should return to normal soon.
Tangail Superintendent of Police Sarkar Mohammad Kaiser stated that about 800 policemen are working tirelessly to ensure a congestion-free and smooth journey for Eid travelers.
He also said that in recent years, people have travelled on this highway without significant issues.
