The Election Commission (EC) has approved a proposal of the Public Security Division of the home ministry for the transfer of the officers-in-charge (OCs) of 338 police stations ahead of the upcoming national election slated for January 7.
The approval came on Thursday afternoon after the commission received it a day earlier.
Earlier, the EC asked the government to transfer OCs who have completed six months of service at their current workplace to other districts and upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs) who have completed a year in phases to conduct the 12th parliamentary elections in a fair manner.
Per the EC’s directives, the Public Security Division sent the proposal to transfer 338 OCs in the first phase.
The commission has already approved the transfer of 47 UNOs in the first phase after the Public Administration Ministry sent a proposal in this regard.
The Public Administration Ministry on Wednesday sent another proposal to the Election Commission (EC) for the transfer of 110 UNOs.
Voting in the 12th parliamentary election will be held on January 7.
