Covered van crashes into an autorickshaw
A total of five people were killed, and two others injured, when a covered van crashed into a CNG-powered auto rickshaw in Comilla on Sunday morning.
The incident took place on the Amirabad-Kachu road in the Mahananda area in the district at around 10am.
Upon receiving the information the police rescued the injured and sent them to Gouripur Health Complex where the duty doctor declared five people dead.
The deceased have been identified as Pithuj Mondol, 28, Jahanara Begum, 55, her son Shofiullaf, 24, Monir Hossen, 36, Ismail Hossen, 38.
The bodies are kept at Daudkandi Upazila Health Complex.
Daudkandi police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mozammel Haque confirmed the incident.
“Process is underway to hand over the bodies to their families,” said OC Mozammel.
The injured are Sadia, 20, and five-year-old Sharif. They have been sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for better treatment.
