Breach of electoral code: Barrister Suman served show-cause notice

The Election Inquiry Committee has served a show-cause notice to Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Suman, an independent candidate for the Habiganj-4 constituency, for violating the election code by using Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's photo on handbills.
Senior Assistant Judge Sabuz Paul issued the show-cause notice on Sunday and asked him to explain his position on the incident in writing on Tuesday.
On December 27, Abdul Hai, a boat activist of the constituency, lodged a written complaint with the district returning officer.
Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Suman was also served another show-cause notice on December 2 for holding an election campaign, which blocked several roads and posed difficulty for the area's people.
The local police were also not informed about the election rally.
The national polls is scheduled to be held on January 7.
