Nahid Islam, the coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, has announced the continuation of the ongoing quota reform protests. He conveyed this message via a Facebook status on Thursday evening.

Nahid Islam stated, "The government has created the situation by using violence in a peaceful movement. It is the government's responsibility. The government did not set any conditions for negotiations. If law enforcement is still not removed from the streets; if the halls, campuses, educational institutions are not opened, if the firing continues, then the government will have to take full responsibility."

He further emphasized that mere quota reform is insufficient. "Initially, using the judiciary, the government ignored the demand. Law enforcement forces and party cadres are trying to suppress the movement. Now, in the name of dialogue, a new farce is being made in the name of demand."

Nahid also demanded justice for the killings of all students and the end of BCL terror on campuses. He called for the immediate disarmament and removal of law enforcement forces and Awami League supporters from the streets. "There will be no dialogue on the blood of martyrs. The government must find a solution," he asserted.

In his statement, Nahid called on the Bangladesh security forces to support the students instead of the "murderous government" and urged the international community to protect the people of Bangladesh, claiming that a genocide is occurring.

"We could be arrested or disappeared tonight. You will continue the program. Take the people with you and enter every campus," Nahid wrote.

Earlier in the afternoon, Law Minister Anisul Haque had stated, "We agree in principle on quota reform. We are willing to discuss this with the students at any time."
