At least Tk 29 lakh has been stolen from the vault of IFIC Bank’s Bogura sadar sub-branch just before the Eid-ul-Azha holiday.
Miscreants broke into the single-storey bank building through the roof on Wednesday night (June 12) and stole the money, said Bogura Sadar Police Station’s in-charge Saihan Oliullah.
“The bank branch didn’t have any security guards,” he said.
Bank officials left after work on Wednesday afternoon. On Thursday morning (June 13), they found the vault broken and contacted police.
Initially, the bank confirmed that Tk 29 lakh was missing.
On January 26, miscreants stole Tk 9 lakh from the vault of NRCB Bank’s Pallimangal sub-branch in Bogura Sadar Upazila.
