Khaleda Zia must go to jail before treatment abroad, PM says

Khaleda being treated at most expensive hospital in country. Up to court to give her permission to go abroad.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia must go back to prison before seeking approval for treatment abroad.
The prime minister made the statement during an interview with Voice of America journalist Satarupa Barua, which aired on Saturday.
She said: "They must seek court permission through an application to take her abroad. She can go [abroad] if the court permits her.
"We cannot intervene in court proceedings. My role as prime minister is limited to suspending her jail sentence on humanitarian grounds and granting her permission to remain at home," Sheikh Hasina added.
"She is being treated at the most expensive hospital in Bangladesh.”
The prime minister also discussed various other topics, such as US visa restrictions, forced disappearances and the formation of an election-time government, during the interview.
