Three Bangladeshi workers have died in a road accident on their way to work in the city of Najd, Saudi Arabia.

The accident occurred around noon on Thursday (Bangladesh time) while they were heading to construction work.

The deceased were Sabuj, 38, Sabbir, 21, and Rifat, 20. Sabuj was driving the car when the incident took place. All three of them were from Chandpur.

The families of the deceased are mourning their loss just before Eid-ul-Azha.

Rifat went to the Gulf country only three years ago to work as a construction worker.

His father, Delwar Hossain, said they used to talk regularly. His son had also expressed his desire to come home for Eid some days ago, but it did not happen.

Rifat's neighbor Al-Amin Khan said: "Rifat was very young. We are all deeply saddened by such an accident. There are no words of consolation. He was only earning person for his family."

Sabbir's father, Ismail Saiyal, and mother, Fatima Begum, are devastated. Fatima was unable to speak due to extreme grief, and the neighbours are also finding it hard to console her.

Ismail said they want the government's assistance to bring back their son's body to the country.

Sabbir's younger sister Sneha said: "My brother used to tell me about his dreams over the phone, what he would do when he came back to the country."

Sabbir and Rifat were taken to Saudi Arabia by Sabuj Choukidar.

Sabuj's father, Jamal Choukidar, said: “They worked together in construction projects in the city and surrounding areas. Sabuj used his own car to commute to work, and Sabuj was driving during the accident.”

The families of these three workers demanded cooperation from the government regarding the repatriation of their children's bodies.

Haimchar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Uma Salma Najnin Trisha said: "We have not been informed by the families of the deceased regarding what they need yet. However, if they inform us, we will provide all kinds of assistance possible."
