Detectives have detained a man following the circulation of viral videos showing the harassment of several women in Cox’s Bazar.
The detainee, identified as Farukul Islam, 22, hails from Satkania upazila in Chittagong district.
Cox's Bazar Superintendent of Police Muhammad Rahmat Ullah confirmed the matter.
Farukul Islam is currently being interrogated. Legal action will follow if a formal complaint is filed, said the SP.
One of the videos, which surfaced on Facebook on Friday morning, shows a group of around twenty young men surrounding a woman, with many recording the incident on their mobile phones. One man is seen holding the woman by the ear and beating her with a stick while ordering her to leave the beach.
