A dead body from Myanmar has washed ashore in a canal in Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar.
Locals discovered the body in the Balukhali Customs area of the upazila on Sunday afternoon.
They said that ink was smeared on the face of the body. Upon seeing an olive-coloured helmet and khaki uniform worn, locals believe it to be the body of a member of a rebel group in Myanmar.
Locals said the body washed ashore here through canal waters from Dhekibunia in Myanmar.
Ukhiya police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Shamim Hossain said: "Upon receiving the news that a body had washed ashore through the canal, policemen were dispatched to the spot. Action will be taken based on the detailed information obtained."
