Jahangir accuses Indian media of spreading propaganda
Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today accused Indian media of spreading propaganda against Bangladesh and urged local journalists to counter the misinformation.
"The media in our neighboring country is disseminating false news about Bangladesh. It is the duty of Bangladeshi journalists to expose the reality and hold them accountable for their lies," he said visiting Abu Sayed's family in Rangpur's Pirganj.
He expressed confidence in the integrity of Bangladeshi journalists, urging them to reveal the truth and address corruption wherever it exists, even within government institutions.
"If you find any corruption, even involving me personally, do report it," he added.
Addressing the case of Abu Sayed, the adviser praised his bravery and announced government support for a foundation to be established in his name.
He confirmed the arrest of three suspects in connection with Sayed's murder and assured that the trial would begin soon.
"No one will be spared," he said.
The adviser addressed concerns about irregularities in police recruitment, emphasising that no allegations of corruption had surfaced so far. "If you uncover any wrongdoing, report it, and we will take action," he said.
The event was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Major General Asfaquzzaman, director general of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB); AKM Shahidur Rahman, director general of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB); Aminul Islam, DIG of Rangpur Range; and Mohammad Sharif Uddin, Superintendent of Police.
Later, the adviser distributed winter clothing to underprivileged residents in the area and held meetings with regional law enforcement officials and agricultural officers at the Rangpur Police Lines Auditorium.
