Cold wave affecting most areas in Rangpur, Rajshahi divisions
Dhaka residents endured a bitter cold spell with Monday’s lowest temperature plunging to 12.3 degrees Celsius, the lowest in the capital this winter.
After a slight rise, temperatures across Bangladesh are falling again, causing foggy conditions in Dhaka and various regions even during the daytime.
Notably, the lowest temperature in Dhaka on Sunday was 14.4 degrees.
A mild cold wave is affecting many districts in Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions, with 16 districts recording temperatures below 10 degrees.
The harsh weather, especially affecting low-income individuals, is causing distress in the capital and beyond.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department forecast a potential further drop of 1 to 2 degrees in Dhaka's nighttime temperature.
When the temperature falls below 10 degrees Celsius, the met office classifies it as a mild cold wave. As a result, if the mercury drops by two degrees, there is a likelihood of a cold wave affecting Dhaka.
