National polls: Bangladesh Coast Guard deploys in 43 coastal unions

Will perform duties under In Aid to the Civil Power
The Bangladesh Coast Guard has deployed in 43 coastal unions to maintain peace and order and assist the civil administration during the upcoming election.
The initiative has been taken to hold a free and fair election, Coast Guard Headquarters Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Khandaker Munif Taki confirmed on Friday afternoon.
He said: "As per the directives of the Election Commission, the Bangladesh Coast Guard will perform duties as a mobile and striking force in the coastal areas from December 29, 2023, to January 10, 2024, under In Aid to the Civil Power to assist the civil administration during the pre-election and post-election period."
