Cuet VC Rafiqul Alam quits

Md Rafiqul Alam, vice-chancellor (VC) of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (Cuet), has resigned from his position.
University Registrar Sheikh Mohammad Humayun Kabir confirmed the matter on Thursday saying that the VC sent his resignation letter citing personal reasons.
On Tuesday, general students of the university placed a 3-point demand to the deputy director of the university's Student Welfare Department Dr Mo Saiful Islam.
They demanded the resignation of the VC, pro-VC, director of Student Welfare, and dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Technology within 48 hours and appointment of acting VC by August 15.
Later, Professor Md Rafiqul Alam submitted his resignation letter on Wednesday.
When asked, Prof Rafiqul said: “Students do not want me. So, for the sake of Cuet, I have resigned and sent the resignation letter to the registrar.”
Meanwhile, the student welfare director Md Rezaul Karim has also been relieved from his post by the university administration.
