Warmer days ahead as severe heat batters Bangladesh

Weather may remain mainly dry


Days are expected to get warmer as daytime temperature may rise slightly.

On the other hand, nighttime temperature may fall slightly, according to the forecast of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Wednesday.

A severe heatwave is sweeping over the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jessore, and Patuakhali.

A mild to moderate heatwave is sweeping over Dhaka, Rangpur, and Mymensingh divisions and the rest parts of Rajshahi, Khluna, and Barisal divisions and the districts of Moulvibazar, Rangamati, Chandpur, Bandarban and it may spread.

Rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind are likely to occur at one or two places over the Sylhet division with hails at isolated places.

The weather may remain mainly dry with a temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country.

The highest temperature of 40.05°C was recorded in Ishwardi on Wednesday while the lowest temperature of 20.07°C was recorded in Tetulia.

The sun would set in Dhaka at 6:24pm on Wednesday and rise at 5:29am on Thursday.
