Momen: US has no link with self-proclaimed Biden advisor

Foreign Minister Dr Ak Abdul Momen on Saturday said that America has no link with Mian Jahidul Islam alias Arefy, who identified himself as an advisor to US President Joe Biden.

“He will be tried as per existing laws of Bangladesh. America informed us that he had no link with them. The trial may be held against him also in America as per their law,” said Momen. 

The minister said these things in response to questions from journalists after the inauguration of Unimart Complex in Sylhet's Ambarkhana on Saturday morning. Earlier, he visited the Unimart complex.

Mian Jahidul Islam alias Arefy, who identified himself as an advisor to US President Joe Biden, was sent to jail on Monday in a case filed with Paltan police station on charge of cheating people with a false identity.

Momen also said that BNP has started the politics of lies in the name of the movement. On October 28, they killed a police constable, tortured journalists, attacked the residence of Chief Justice and set a hospital on fire in the name of a peaceful rally. 

The minister urged the BNP to expel the culprits from the party, seeking an apology to the country's people openly. 

Besides, he urged the BNP leaders to shun the path of terror and lies and come to the polls.
