Doctors suspend work stoppage till 8pm on Monday after Health Adviser’s assurance

Striking doctors suspended their work stoppage till 8pm on Monday after Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum on Sunday assured the arrest of those who had attacked doctors at DMCH within 24 hours.

The adviser gave the assurance during a briefing at the administrative building of Dhaka Medical College Hospital in the afternoon.

Earlier, doctors, interns and medical students announced a shutdown for an indefinite period in all public and private hospitals, including upazila- and district-level hospitals across the country, protesting attacks on physicians and vandalism carried out by relatives of a patient at the emergency department of DMCH.

Meanwhile, two separate probe bodies were formed to look into the incidents and allegations of negligence in treatment.
