Has to be registered in voter list
No one would be eligible to cast a vote in the elections unless their age line reaches 18 years or above.
"The Election Commission (EC) usually provides national identity card (NID) to the age group of 16 and 17 years along with those who reach 18 or above...but those who are below 18 are not voters", said M Shariful Alam, Election Commission director (Public Relations).
Voting is permitted for individuals who hold Bangladeshi citizenship, are aged 18 or older, born on or before January 1, 2005, are residents of a specific constituency, and have been registered in the voter list.
But those who have no registration on the voter list, were born after January 1, 2005, those of unsound mind declared by courts, convicted in Special Tribunals and International Crimes Tribunal are not eligible for voting, Alam said.
