Bus-autorickshaw collision leaves 7 dead in Mymensingh

District administration to provide Tk20,000 for burial


At least seven people have died after a head-on collision between a bus and a CNG-run autorickshaw in the Alalpur area of Mymensingh Sadar upazila on Friday.

The incident took place at around 11am, Md Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali model police station said.

The OC said a Sherpur-bound Adil Paribahan bus collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction. “Seven people, including the CNG driver, were killed on the spot.”

Four of the deceased have been identified as Babul Ahmed, 45, his wife Shila Akter, 35, and their son Md Sadman, and autorickshaw driver Al Amin Hossain, 25. 

The identities of the rest of the victims could not be known yet.

The bodies were sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

The district administration has announced Tk20,000 for the burial of the victims. A committee will be formed to investigate the incident.
