Inauguration of Centre for Smart Infrastructure Resilience and Sustainability held at UIU

Saber Hossain Chowdhury was present as chief guest
The Department of Civil Engineering of United International University (UIU) organized the inauguration of the Centre for Smart Infrastructure Resilience and Sustainability (CSIRS-UIU).
The program was held at UIU campus, United City, Madani Avenue, Dhaka, at 10am on Saturday.
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury was present as the chief guest.
Muhammad Ibrahim, secretary of LGD of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development & Co-operatives, was present as the special guest.
Vice Chancellor of UIU Prof Dr Md Abul Kashem Mia presided over the ceremony.
The presentation about the CSIRS-UIU was delivered by Prof Dr Md Mujibur Rahman, Dept. of Civil Engineering, UIU.
The welcome address was delivered by Prof Dr Afzal Ahmed, Head, Department. of Civil Engineering, UIU.
Saber Hossain Chowdhury said: “Working in places where we need research to rid the world of the effects of climate change and all Universities of Bangladesh should focus more on research.”
He also expressed hope that the CSIRS-UIU will play an important role as a centre of excellence for the region in academic and action research and development as well as Smart Bangladesh.
The secretary of the ministry said: “We have to work together keeping the Delta Plan in front for sustainable development.”
Faculty members, students, officials, academicians, government high officials, researchers and other distinguished guests from various universities and institutions in Bangladesh were present in the program.
