BNP lying to spread slander against the government, says Quader
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Tuesday said that BNP leaders are lying about enforced disappearances and murders to spread slander against the government.
He asked the opposition party to publish the list.
At a press briefing at the Awami League president's office in Dhanmondi in the capital this afternoon, Quader, also road, transport and bridges minister, said that the opposition party led by BNP is continuing to mislead the people through lies and rumours.
“BNP said that their 13 leaders died in prison. Prisoners are people too. They can also die…If someone is imprisoned in jail, will he not die? They all are BNP leaders, how do they make such a claim? They often talked about forced disappearances and murders. Various international organizations and Western countries are providing false information about this disappearance. The same is true about disappearances, they (BNP) are making these disappearances without any evidence to spread slander against the government.”
Quader asked BNP leaders to provide a list with proof.
“Will they (BNP) throw stones in the dark again and again? This is not politics. Failure cannot be concealed by distributing leaflets. BNP's leaflet distribution program aims to destroy the country and kill people,” said the Awami League leader.
Regarding the statement of BNP leaders, Obaidul Quader said that an international investigation will be conducted on the disappearances and murders during the Awami League period. A list should also be given of how many people have been killed or enforced disappeared by political opponents during the period of BNP-rule government. Why will the matter be one-sided?
Regarding the nomination of Awami League for the reserved women seat in the 12th national parliament, the party's general secretary clarified that the nomination will be finalized at the meeting of the nomination board of Awami League.
At this time, in response to journalists' questions about the infiltration of weapons along the Myanmar border, the minister said that Bangladesh is very aware and vigilant about internal security.
“In case of intrusion by any foreigner, it will be investigated and action will be taken,” he said.
