Income increased compared to previous year
The ruling Bangladesh Awami League has earned over Tk27.14 crore and spent over TK9.87 crore in the last calendar year (2023), according to the annual financial report of the party.
The report, which was submitted to the Election Commission (EC) on Thursday, said the income mainly came from the annual subscription of party members, selling of nomination and primary membership forms, grants and bank interest.
Awami League Central Committee treasurer HN Ashequr Rahman submitted the party’s financial statement to EC Secretary Shafiul Azim at Agargaon Nirbachan Bhaban in Agargaon.
According to the report, the last year’s income of the party was over Tk16.43 crore more than the previous (2022) year.
The party earned Tk10,71,35,768 and incurred expenses of Tk7,86,84,579 in 2022.
Awami League office secretary Barrister Biplob Barua, Publicity Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap and Deputy Office Secretary Sayeem Khan were present, among others.
