Bangladesh, Myanmar foreign ministers meet in Uganda

Their first meeting since Hasan Mahmud took charge
Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud held a meeting with Myanmar Foreign Minister Than Swe in Uganda on Saturday on the sidelines of the NAM summit.
They discussed on Rohingya repatriation and other issues of importance between the two countries, the foreign ministry said.
This is the first meeting between the two ministers after Hasan Mahmud took charge of the foreign ministry.
Rohingya repatriation is the major thorn between the two neighbours.
Over 1.1 million Rohingyas took refuge in Bangladesh fleeing ethnic cleansing in their homeland Rakhine state of Myanmar.
None of them returned despite deals between the governments. China is also involved in a tripartite process.
Foreign Minister Dr Mahmud at the NAM summit called for peaceful settlement of disputes and promotion of culture of peace.
He also urged all concerned to redouble efforts to ensure a sustainable solution to the Rohingya issue.
