The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has raised the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at the consumer level.

For the month of July, the price of a 12kg cylinder has been raised by Tk3, with the new price being Tk1,366.

The government last month reduced the price of a 12kg LPG cylinder by Tk30, down to Tk1,363 from Tk1,393.

BERC Chairman Nurul Amin announced the new prices in a press conference at Karwan Bazar BERC office on Tuesday afternoon.

According to BERC, the import price of LPG remained unchanged, but the price at the consumer level increased slightly due to the dollar price.

As per BERC's new rates, private LPG price inclusive of value-added tax has been fixed at Tk113.86 per kg, which was Tk113.58 last month.

The price of LPG supplied by government companies has been kept unchanged at Tk690.

The new price of LPG (autogas) used in cars has been set at Tk62.70 per litre, which was Tk62.53.

Multiple sizes of cylinders are available in the market starting from 5.5kg to 45kg.

Apart from household cooking, LPG is also being used in restaurants, the transport sector, and small and large industries. More than 99% of this market is occupied by the private sector.

Before this, the price of LPG was increased several times.

The price of a 12kg cylinder for May was reduced by Tk49 to Tk1,393 compared to the month of April.

In April compared to the month of March, the price of a 12kg cylinder was reduced by Tk40 to Tk1,442.

Finally, on June 3, the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission decided to reduce the price by Tk30, and then the 12kg cylinder price was fixed at Tk11,363.
