Renovated Fazle Rabbi Park in Gulshan-1 opens for public

The park has four multipurpose sports ground
Renovated Shaheed Dr Fazle Rabbi Park in Gulshan-1 has been opened to the public on Friday in a ceremony on the park premises.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor Md Atiqul Islam addressed the ceremony as the chief guest while State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat spoke as the special guest.
Professor of Architecture of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) Dr SM Nazmul Imam, DNCC's reserved ward number 7 councillor Amena Begum, Niketon Society president Dr MA Bashar, DNCC chief executive officer Mir Khairul Alam, DNCC Chief Engineer Brigadier General Muhammad Amirul Islam, Fazle Rabbi's son Omar Rabbi were present with DNCC ward number 19 councillor Mafizur Rahman in the chair.
Atiqul Islam said the park has four multipurpose sports grounds to facilitate the citizens specially children and youths to play cricket, football and other games inside the park.
“It has a noise pollution control facility as well,” he added.
The DNCC mayor said they took opinions from five groups of people including children, youth and women while renovating the park.
Indicating the challenges to renovating different parks in the DNCC area, the mayor said directives have been given to authorities concerned to let the citizens use the Fazle Rabbi Park for only specific purposes including walking, jogging and sports as it cannot be used for any social gatherings.
He also highlighted different development works in the DNCC area including the digitization of the traffic control system and the introduction online holding tax payment platform.
Later, the DNCC mayor and the state minister formally inaugurated the renovated park by unveiling a plaque on the park premises. They planted a sapling and inaugurated a police box on the park premises. Then they along with other guests went round the park.
