West Bengal BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has condemned Bangladesh’s government over the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das, spokesperson for Sanatan Jagaran Jote, warning of blockades at the border unless he is released.
Adhikari, leader of the opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, demanded Chinmoy’s unconditional release, also warning of protests at the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata otherwise, The Indian Express’s Bangla section reported on Tuesday.
“We will not allow services from India to pass through West Bengal into Bangladesh,” he added.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs also expressed “deep concern” over the arrest and denial of bail to Chinmoy Krishna Das.
Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested on Monday at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka while en route to Chittagong, where he resides.
The next day, a Chittagong court sent him to jail rejecting a petition for his bail.
