“The interim government should include representatives of various political parties in its structure to make an inclusive government to strengthen it,” he said while addressing a shadow parliament (Chaya Sangsad) debate competition at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) as the chief guest.
Nur, however, said that these political-party representatives will act as the present interim government's associate partners. “Once such inclusive government is formed, the gap between the government and political parties will be minimized leading to a smooth functioning of government."
Debate for Democracy, a non-profit, non-government organization, organized the debate competition titled 'Student Politics is an Obstacle for Fair Environment of Education' with its Chairman Hassan Ahamed Chowdhury Kiron in the chair.
Nur, also former vice-president (VP) of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu), said the present interim government is losing its acceptability due to price hike of essentials, fuel or energy crisis and in regard of foreign loans.
If this apolitical government includes political parties and takes their realistic opinions then it would be easy for the government to run the country smoothly, he added.
Nur said without coordinating with political parties in the structure of the present interim government, it (the government) will face disaster and the government's disaster means the disaster of the people of the country as well.
Describing the importance of inclusion of political party in the government, Nur also urged media personnel to play the role of watchdog so that they can highlight the strengths and flaws of the government.
“With the media's constructive criticism, the government, with the help of the included political parties, will take pragmatic decisions for reforming the state and fulfilling the aspiration of the people,” he said.
Regarding next general election, he said the government should hold a national elections giving importance of the public expectation.
Responding to a media query, he said as a representative of the youth, his party, Gono Odhikar Parishad, has the desire to contest the next parliamentary election independently.
He called for minimizing the age limit from 25 to 21 in competing in the national polls so that revolutionary, creative and meritorious youth can take part in the polls to change the country in an innovative way.
After listening to the debate of young debaters of Manarat International University and Bangladesh University, Nur said every college and university should go for Students' Union Election.
"Once students' union will be active in these institutions, the traditional student politics and its negative impacts will not sustain in the country," he added.
