US Ambassador to Dhaka Peter D Haas faced scrutiny from Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan after questioning the government's plans regarding road closures in Dhaka before the BNP’s upcoming rally.

The home minister, addressing journalists on Sunday, expressed surprise at such an inquiry, questioning its appropriateness.

He emphasized that Dhaka would not come to a standstill during the rally scheduled for October 28. Law enforcement agencies are on high alert to maintain public safety, with reinforced surveillance measures in place.

Speaking after a meeting with Ambassador Haas, Asaduzzaman noted that the BNP had organized a significant event in the capital, gathering people for their political program.

He assured that the government had no intention of closing roads or entrances in Dhaka, expressing hope for a peaceful execution of the BNP's program.

Regarding security for the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations, the minister said adequate arrangements were in place, ensuring safety during the festivities.
