"We are thinking about involving Bangladeshi youth who have studied and acquired skills abroad in the process of nation-building upon their return, not only in the IT sector,” he added.
He said this to journalists after officiating at the ICT department for the first time since taking responsibility.
During this time, he was welcomed by the concerned officers.
Later, Nahid met with everyone in the conference room and then visited the ICT Tower in Agargaon.
At the beginning of the meeting, a minute of silence was observed in memory of those killed in the movement against the Sheikh Hasina government.
Investments will be reactivated
Adviser Nahid Islam said that previous officeholders stopped investments in the startups that had taken a stance for the quota reform movement. They took this action very dictatorially.
“We strongly condemn this action. We will contact them (startups) soon. The process of working with the government that was in place will be reactivated,” he added.
Corruption must be stopped
"We have discussed structural changes overall in the meeting. These should be implemented in all ministries. We have also discussed our stance against corruption,” he said.
He further added: "We know that corruption is a major motive behind the creation of projects. These areas must be stopped, and we must work within our means and capabilities.”
Training to be increased to create skilled workforce
Nahid Islam said: "Training is of utmost importance. Freelancers have created a significant place in Bangladesh through their work. The youth are independently creating many startups. They need to be involved. They need to be trained better.”
“A skilled manpower is very important in our IT sector. The future of Bangladesh will depend on this manpower. So there is no scope for corruption or negligence in this sector," he said.
