Says Fakhrul daydreaming since his release

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has suggested the BNP prepare for the next general election instead of thinking about its next anti-government movement.

Quader, who is the road transport and bridges minister, was addressing a joint meeting of his party at its central office on Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka on Friday.

Talking about the BNP's vows of carrying out its movement until achieving victory, Quader said the party’s secretary general, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, is overwhelmed with daydreams following his release from jail.

Quader said: “The BNP needs to understand that while the people's chosen government is in power, there will be no issue-based movement in the country.”

He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has brought great honour to the country by participating in the Munich Security Conference. “The democratic world has unhesitatingly accepted the importance of Bangladesh.”

“Many of our adversaries thrive due to Bangladesh's geopolitical location. A lot of falcons have their sights set on Saint Martin’s Island and the Bay of Bengal. But Sheikh Hasina's government has achieved success in having a balanced diplomatic approach.”
