‘Boycott aims to destabilize the Bangladeshi market’

Regarding BNP’s call to boycott Indian products, Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud asked can Bangladeshi market system ever be adequately maintained by boycotting all Indian products.

“The main objective of BNP's Indian products boycott is to destabilize the country's market and increase prices of essentials so that people suffer,” the minister questioned this during a briefing at the Foreign Ministry on Sunday.

The foreign minister said: "Who have advocated for the boycott of Indian products consume chickpeas made with Indian onions during Iftar. Some of these individuals' wives wear Indian sarees. Interestingly, some of the same individuals who call for the boycott of Indian products have recently sought medical treatment in India.

You go to India for medical treatment, consume Indian onions, beef, wear sarees, use various products, and then advocate for boycotting Indian goods. The primary aim is to destabilize the market and inflate prices before Eid.,” he added.

He further added: “Bangladesh considers India as a friendly country and acknowledges its support during the Liberation War. The relationship between the two countries is multidimensional, and they are each other's allies. The cooperation between the two countries should continue to achieve development and progress for the benefit of the people. Bangladesh hopes to improve the fate of its people through the development of its relationship with India.”
