Govt to provide 108C incentive for high-yield rice production

Incentive given in the form of seeds and non-urea fertilizer
The government has taken a plan to provide around Tk108 crore incentive to farmers for encouraging them to increase cultivation of high-yielding Ufshi variety of rice in Boro season.
The incentive will be given in the form of seeds and non-urea fertilizer to 1.5million small and marginal farmers, as per a press release issued on Monday.
Each grower will get five kilogrammes (kg) of seeds of the rice variety, 10 kgs of diammonium phosphate and muriate of potash for free for cultivation on each bigha of land.
Earlier, the agriculture ministry also declared Tk90 crore incentives for farmers to promote hybrid rice cultivation in the coming boro season.
The stimulus is under distribution, it said.
