For the seventh consecutive day, workers of Beximco Industrial Park staged a protest on the Dhaka-Tangail highway on Wednesday, demanding their outstanding salaries for October.
The protest began around 8am at Chakraborty intersection in Gazipur's Kashimpur area.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Manjurul Islam of Kashimpur police station confirmed that traffic on alternative routes remained unaffected.
The protesting workers expressed frustration over the factory authorities' failure to address their concerns.
"The authorities assured us of a meeting to discuss the salary issue and set a payment date, but nothing has happened yet," a worker said. "We will continue our protests until we receive our due salaries."
The workers highlighted their financial struggles due to the delay.
"We cannot pay house rent, school fees for our children, or even afford basic necessities. Some landlords are pressuring us to vacate our homes, and shopkeepers are refusing to extend credit," they said.
Beximco Industrial Park, which employs 41,000 workers in its garment and ceramic factories, has faced a week-long disruption due to the ongoing protests.
Despite repeated attempts, Beximco Industrial Park authorities could not be reached for comment.
