"We have already taken an all-encompassing measure to ensure foolproof security across the country to guarantee a peaceful and joyous celebration of the Pohela Boishakh," Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of media at the Police Headquarters Enamul Haque Sagor told BSS on Sunday.
He said the law enforcers have taken security measures, giving equal importance to every place.
But, special focus has been given on the major cities such as Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Khulna, Sylhet and Barisal.
Asked about any security threats over the celebration of the Pohela Boishakh, he said: "There is no security threat. But, we are well aware."
Sagor, also spokesperson of the Bangladesh Police said that adequate numbers of law enforcement agencies in uniforms and plainclothes have already been deployed in Dhaka and elsewhere across the country to pursue a peaceful celebration of the Pohela Boishakh.
Necessary instructions have already been given to every unit of the Bangladesh Police in this connection, he said.
Intelligence surveillance has been intensified across the country, especially in the large cities.
The "Ananda Shobhajatra", the main attraction of the Pohela Boishakh celebration, has been given utmost priority in formulating the security plan, he said.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Sunday issued two separate guidelines for traffic management and arranging Ananda Shovajatra in a disciplined and smooth way.
