This has generated Tk2.78 crore in toll revenue, while around 750 police officers have been deployed to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Highway officials reported that traffic pressure increased on Thursday compared to Wednesday.

The vehicle load has significantly increased from Elenga to Bangabandhu Bridge since the morning, with further increases expected in the afternoon.

According to the Jamuna Bridge authorities, from Tuesday midnight to Wednesday midnight, 33,766 vehicles crossed the bridge.

Among them, 18,239 were heading toward North Bengal, generating Tk1.38 crore in toll revenue. Meanwhile, 15,527 vehicles were Dhaka-bound, contributing Tk1.40 crore in toll revenue.

The bridge authorities also noted that Wednesday saw 4,533 more vehicles crossing the bridge compared to Tuesday.

Over the past three days, a total of 87,096 vehicles have crossed the bridge, collecting Tk7.62 crore in toll revenue.

Regarding this, Ahsanul Kabir Pavel, Executive Engineer of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority’s Jamuna Bridge site office, said that 18 toll booths—nine on each side—are facilitating vehicle crossings during Eid travel.

Among these, two booths on each side are designated for motorcycles. Efforts are being made to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow on the bridge.

Tangail Superintendent of Police (SP) Mizanur Rahman added that the highway has been divided into four sectors, with police officers deployed accordingly. So far, there have been no reports of traffic congestion.

It is worth noting that the Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna Bridge highway is the second-largest highway in the country. It serves as the only road connection between Dhaka and North Bengal. The Tangail section of this highway spans 65 kilometers. Every year during Eid, a massive surge of homebound travelers causes heavy traffic on this route. Compared to regular days, traffic increases several times during the Eid season. The highway connects 24 districts of North and South Bengal.
